Surge Swim School has developed an exclusive and extensive program that is designed to level up swimmers from beginners to elite in a safe and supportive environment.
Level 1 beginning swimmers orient themselves to the aquatic environment and gain basic aquatic skills. Instructors use guided movements to build comfort and confidence in the water. Students will develop confidence and learn how to safely maneuver in the water.

Bobbing in the water, blowing bubbles, kicking, proper safety in the water and around the pool.
Level 2 beginning students will learn the basics of swimming and independence while building confidence in the water. Games will be used to teach beginning swimmers how to float, glide, and kick with some assistance from instructors. This is where we start teaching early drowning prevention with the black float.
Skills Learned
Combined arm and leg action on front/back, various floating techniques, increased distance swimming.
Level 3 begining students are more independent and will build upon skills learned in lessons 1 and 2, with a goal of achieving basic water competency in a pool environment. Swimmers will practice floating, gliding, and kicking, with a focus on building confidence and swimming skills.

Front crawl, backstroke, side breathing, and independent floating.
Level 4 is for swimmers who can swim independently, this class focuses on fundamental swim strokes and water safety. Swimmers will learn the basics of freestyle (often referred to as front crawl) and practice self-rescue skills such as breathing techniques and treading water.

Treading water, proper freestyle breathing techniques, ability to swim freestyle properly 5-10 yards.
Level 5 is for swimmers who understand the fundamentals of swimming, swimmers will work on refining their swim strokes and learn new techniques. They will focus on endurance and mastering the freestyle. Instructors will introduce backstroke.
Skills Learned
Stroke development freestyle and backstroke, elementary breaststroke, and treading water.
Level 6 is for swimmers with a strong grasp of the fundamentals, this level introduces breaststroke and dolphin kick as an introduction to the butterfly stroke. Swimmers will develop endurance and learn to use proper form when swimming longer distances.

Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly introduction, and a specialized diving progression.
Level 7 swimmers understand the basics of all four strokes. They will learn the rest of the butterfly strokes and perfect previously learned strokes. Swimmers will work on technique refinement in all four strokes.

Continued practice of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke technique while increasing the swimming distance. Learning the proper technique for the butterfly stroke.
Level 8 swimmers will build upon technique and endurance in all four strokes. They will learn the basics of starts and flip-turns. Additionally, swimmers will work towards the pre-competitive level where they will work to improve their swim times.
Skills Learned
Mastery of all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) and proper technique for flip-turns.
